Statement of Significance

This tree is a magnificent specimen of Banksia Ilicifolia, with a massive broad trunk and huge canopy. It is uncommon to grow to this size and is likely to represent a tree of very significant age. It is in remnant forest which is recognised as vital habitat for endangered ringtail possums and black cockatoos.

Location

The Gelorup corridor is a unique area of bushland which has been preserved for over 40 years as part of a road reserve. It therefore has an abundance of large habitat trees and old growth jarrah, marri, and banksia woodland.
