Statement of Significance
Located in the front garden of the caretakers residence this tree is one of the largest known in Victoria, although this species can reach twice the size. The tree is spectacular in Autumn with its golden foliage.<BR>The colonial history of Flagstaff Gardens is linked to the hill the vantage point that dominates the site, where a 'flag staff' or 'flag pole' was erected in 1840.
