Statement of Significance

This pair of African Holly ( Elaeodendron croceum) is a species rarely found in cultivation in Victoria. It is found in forests on the southern African continent and known there as Forest saffron. It leaves are thought to be of medicinal benefit.
The only other known examples occur in Camperdown, Geelong, Werribee and the Royal Botanic Gardens. Both trees are in excellent condition and contribute significantly to the landscape
