Statement of Significance

This a species that is rare in cultivation in Australia. Other outstanding specimens occur in Geelong at Botanic Gardens and at Eastern Park, and next to the Caulfield Town Hall. The Wild Plum is a large, evergreen tree that grows up to 15 m tall, and is usually found in the riverine forests of southern Africa where it grows from the Eastern Cape northwards through, Swaziland, southern Mozambique,and into Zimbabwe.<BR>The tree is located in Como Park, 120m west of Williams Road and Bruce Street intersection.
