Statement of Significance

Asmall stand of Silver Banksia which was once common on the Keilor Plains. These trees are the last known survivors. The trees are only in a fair condition and require fencing and weed control to maintain them in a healthy condition and encourage their regeneration. They are located on the eastern side of Green Hill, Eynesbury Estate approximately 15.5 km N-W of Werribee Only one tree is still in existence (March 2012). It is possibly the last remnant Banksia marginata still living on the Werribee/Keilor Plains. It is now 98 - 100 years old and in poor and declining health. Genetic material should be collected and germinated as it is still producing flowers and has many old seed cones.
