Statement of Significance

This single tree, located 300 metres south-east of the shrine in the Domain,is marked with a bronze plaque, "HMAS Ballarat" World War II. It is a species unusual in cultivation and found mainly in the wild, the species is localised on mountain slopes, mainly in Wood's Point/ Mt Howitt area, Mt Buffalo and Bogong.
