Statement of Significance

Located in a bed on the Eastern Lawn, this tree is a prominent feature in the landscape and a fine example of a species uncommon in cultivation in Victoria.The species was discovered by Captain Cook during his second travels to the Pacific and is named after the Arauco Indians of central Chile whose territory incorporates natural stands of this species
