Statement of Significance

This impressive Algerian Oak is set back about 70metres from the road in the grounds of the Lima School Community Centre. It was dedicated to the memory of the early settlers of the Lima district 1839-1979. The tree has a single trunk to 2 metres and a large buttress with numerous branch grafts.
The Algerian Oak is native to southern Portugal, Spain, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco and other large example of the species occur at Glen Harrow, Belgrave and the Royal Botanic Gardens.
