Statement of Significance
A native of Venezuela and Colombia, it is a tree rare in cultivation in Victoria, grown largely for its large juvenile leaves. A very large specimen is growing in Geelong Botanic Gardens (Classified), 2 at Warnambool (Town Hall Park) and 2 in Portland Botanic Gardens. Two smaller trees are growing in the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne. This tree is showing signs of age and neglect and has a large basal cavity. <BR><BR>This tree died in 1998 and was removed.
