Statement of Significance

This tree is of Regional significance for its outstanding size, outstanding age, location/context value, and as a remnant tree.

This very large and old example of a Kurrajong is thought to be remnant vegetation predating European settlement of the area. It is the tallest Kurrajong specimen in north-east Victoria on the Register, and also has the largest trunk circumference at 4.43 metres.

History

This outstanding tree is situated on a sloping site amongst granite boulders that may trap water runoff. It is believed to predate European settlement of the area. It has survived the Millenium drought (with some help from local residents) and seedlings have germinated around it.

Notes

Two arborists have suggested placing it on the Register.
