The land was settled in the 1920s by the WIlliams family who operated a nursery until the 1960s. The nursery was operating at its peak in the 1950s and was purchased by the State Government in 1984. The site has many fine exotic and rare or uncommon trees. This Nothofagus solandri (Black Beech) is an outstanding specimen, forming a dense rounded crown, and is animportant feature in the landscape. The species is rare in cultivation and the only other known trees are smaller single specimens in the Royal Botanic Gardens and Pirianda. No other tree has the size orform of this impressivetree. The tree is in good condition, with minor dead wood.
