Statement of Significance
Located in the shrubbery around the ornamental lake. A very large and attractive example of a species uncommon in cultivation in Victoria. With prolific flowers, it provides a focus to the mixed tree/shrub planting around the lake. Footscray Park is one of the largest and most intact examples of an Edwardian public garden in Melbourne. Major planting occurred in the late 1920s and early 1930s.
