What is significant?

This Corymbia citriodora (Lemon-scented Gum) located at the First Avenue Tree Garden at the Fawkner Memorial Park, Fawkner. The tree is located in a lawn area amongst species of Willow Myrtle, Maple, Deodar and a Fir tree.

How is it significant?

Corymbia citriodora (Lemon-scented Gum) is significant for social and scientific reasons at Regional level.

Why is it significant?

This Corymbia citriodora (Lemon-scented Gum) is the largest Lemon-scented Gum at the Fawkner Memorial Park. Located near the tea rooms and car park, the tree attracts the attention of many visitors and staff. The generous girth of the stem along with the attractive form of its large, extending branches are the principle attributes to which the visitor is attracted. It is outstanding for its size, with a height of 22m, canopy spread of between 26 and 29m and circumference of 2.9m. It makes a significant contribution to the surrounding landscape. for Fawkner Crematorium & Memorial Park is also included in the National Trust Heritage Register, file B6039, at State level.
