Statement of Significance

A fine example of a species uncommon in cultivation in Victoria. The tree has a marked lean to the North East and it appears the top has been damaged as no central leader is evident. The tree has particularly dense foliage. The garden, located on an elevated position at Dromana, still contains remnants of the early garden designed by Edward Latrobe Bateman surrounding a bluestone house of 1871. However, the garden is now chiefly the work of Clive Blazey, who gather seeds from around the world for experimental purposes.
