Statement of Significance
'Bilston's Tree' is reputed to be the largest known River Red Gum (<EM>E. camaldulensis</EM>). If solid, the tree contains enough wood for 300 railway sleepers. In 1961, the Forests Commission purchased a 1 acre reserve containing this tree from Mr T Bilston following recommendations from local citizens to protect it from being felled.<BR>The tree is located 6km west along Glenmia Rd from Casterton-Edenhope Rd - 200m south of road.
