Statement of Significance
The finest and largest known example in Victoria, this tree is a dominant landscape feature. Catalpa bignonioides (Indian Bean Tree) is a highly ornamental tree, native to eastern United States. It is an large attractive tree with a broad dome-shaped canopy, and large long-stalked heart shaped leaves. The bark, leaves, and seeds are used in herbal medicines and teas. It has sweetly scented white bell flowers in summer borne in clusters and in Autumn turns yellow<BR>Located beside path, south of lake<BR>1990: Several branches lost due to storm damage.
