Statement of Significance
This tree is possibly the largest and oldest known specimen of Quercus robur in Victoria. It is the oldest tree in the Castlemaine Botanic Gardens.
A plaque at its base indicates the tree was planted on 26 May 1863, to celebrate the marriage of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
It is located adjacent to BBQ and playground.
