Statement of Significance
This tree is a spectacular example of a species uncommon in cultivation in Victoria. It is native across the Mediterranean region and the only other known examples are 5 trees in the Castlemaine Botanic Gardens. A feature of the tree is its conical shape and dense blue-green foliage. <BR>Its wood is used to produce Cade oil , a dark, aromatic oil with a strong smoky smell used in some traditional cosmetics and incense.
