Statement of Significance

This Red maple, 'Crimson King', is very attractive tree with dark purple foliage. The tree is almost of perfect form and is in excellent condition and is the best example of this cultivar known in cultivation.
Acer platanoides is native to eastern and central Europe, and southwest Asia and located near the 'Gong' in the Upper Garden.
