What is significant?
This large Mountain ash grows near the South Cascades, 200m off Thomson Valley Road in Baw Baw. It is one of a set of large old growth trees in Victoria also on the register (T12342, T12343, T12344, T12345, T12346, T12347, T12348, T12349, T12350, T12351, T12357, T12358).This tree is included in a stand of trees also on the register (T11974).
How is it significant?
This Mountain ash (Eucalyptus regnans) is significant for scientific reasons at State level.
Why is it significant?
This Mountain ash is outstanding for its size, with a height of 75.5m, spread of 30m and girth of 30m. It is an outstanding example of the species with a huge tree with a massive and full crown, a slow tapering truck with little fluting or buttressing. This tree has a small scarf cut into trunk, about 1.5m above base on NW side.
