Statement of Significance
A fine example of the more unusual purple-leaved variety of this species. The tree makes an important contribution to the extensive garden developed by Sir Thomas & Lady Travers in the mid to late 1940s. Many of the deciduous trees were brought form their garden in Parkville. Theproperty was bought by the State in 1975 and is now part of the Arthurs Seat State Park
