Statement of Significance
Selected by Hodgins Nursery in Essendon and possibly introduced in the nursery trade in the 1950s, this fine example is distinguished by white flecks throughout its foliage. The tree has a well structured spreading crown. THe only other known specimen in cultivation in Victoria occurs at Footscray Park but is a poorer example. The extensive garden at Seawinds was developed by Sir THomas and Lady Travers who bought the property in 1946 and did considerable amount of terracing and rockery work, bringing many deciduous trees from their garden in Parkville. The Hamer government bought the 34 hectare property in 1975
