Statement of Significance

This tree is significant at a Regional level as a mature indigenous tree in an urban landscape context, which provides a contribution to the landscape and railway setting.

In the early 1990s community action via a series of grants worked to restore indigenous plantings under the tree, and as a result a healthy regrowth has naturally occurred with large numbers of Eucalyptus camaldulensis saplings. Community action saved this tree from being removed as part of proposed carpark development in 2014, and holds significant importance for the local community. The wall opposite the tree is painted with "Save the trees".
