Statement of Significance
Although the ash plantation at Hollybank was established as a commercial enterprise the opportunity was also taken to trial other exotic tree species. This saw the establishment of an arboretum with material for it coming from WAG Walker"s nursery at Lalla.
Notes
Trial trees were planted in individual rows of 18 - 20 trees. Amongst the species trialled and which are still present are:- Douglas Fir (Pseudotsunga menziesii), Western Hemlock (Tsunga heterophylla), Corsican Pine (Pinus nigra var maritima), Giant Sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum), European Larch (Larix decidua), Alder (Alnus glutinosa)
