Statement of Significance
The Swamp Cypress was planted on Friday 5th April, 1935 as the first tree in the ambitious Pioneeer Avenue which was to extend between Launceston and Hobart. The tree and the project are associated with John Walker, Louis Shoobridge and the Ogilvie State Governent more generally
