This is one of the original trees on the Barr Smith estate. this tree is only one of many trees planted by the Barr Smith family when Robert Barr Smith was the owner of the estate "Torrens Park", the coachman's residence West Lodge on the corner of Fife Avenue and Belair Road was built in 1880, and the tree was probably planted in the same period.
