Statement of Significance
This specimen of Cupressus sempervirens Stricta makes a significant aesthetic contribution to the stately garden of Anlaby. It is linked to two prominent late-nineteenth to early-twentieth century Anlaby identities and their development of the historic garden. The very narrow growth habit and outstanding structure of this specimen make it a note-worthy variant of the species. This extremely narrow specimen could be one of the oldest species variants still in excellent condition in existence in South Australia. It is most likely a seedling variant (non-cutting/grafting) since its companion trees have the usual Cupressus sempervirens canopy spread and silhouette.
