Statement of Significance

This specimen of Pyrus communis cultivar or edible pear cultivar makes a significant aesthetic contribution to the stately garden of Anlaby. It is linked to the Founder of Anlaby and his second Station Manager/Australian Representative and their planting of the original fruit orchard on the historic property. The hemispherical growth habit, high fruiting yield and the seasonal canopy silhouette makes this mid-nineteenth century specimen an outstanding and note-worthy example of the edible pear.
