Statement of Significance

These specimens of Pinus halepensis represent one of three species of pine used specifically in a heritage planting style around reservoirs to minimize evaporation and maximize catchment. This heritage planting style was used extensively from the nineteenth century to the early twentieth century and is well documented as a recommended planting around newly constructed reservoirs. Pinus halepensis is one of three species used extensively around the pastoral landscape of Anlaby. They are linked to a prominent nineteenth century Anlaby identity, his Head Gardener and their development of the Northern Reservoir System on the property.
