Statement of Significance
These specimens make a significant aesthetic contrinution to the stately garden of "Anlaby". They are linked to a prominent nineteenth century South Australian identity Henry Dutton and his Head Gardener, Thomas Leslie and their development of the historic "Anlaby" property.
Both men were passionate rare plant and tree collectors and growers.
Henry Dutton was well-known in South Australia for his influence on pastoral life through the family property "Anlaby".
"Anlaby" is the oldest, continuing merino stud on mainland Australia.
