Statement of Significance
The tree was planted in the early 1870s about the time the house (The Cedars) WAS BUILT. Originally the house was called 'Blackwood' but was later renamed.
This tree is an integral part of the history of "The Cedars", dat8ing back to the first owner of the house and property.
It is the largest and most impressive in a row of Hililayan Cedars that lead up to the entrance to the house. It shades the house and has witnessed the entire history of the Heysen family since 1912.
