Statement of Significance
This ancient tree caught the attention of Sir Hans Heysen when he first bought "The Cedars" in 1912. It stands alone in the centre of a paddock. This tree has featured in "Burke's Backyard" and "Postcards".
Sir Hans Heysen bought neighbouring properties in to to protect the trees on them - he was an early conservationist. This tree is a ssed source for Trees For Life.
It is closely associated with the art of Sir Hans Heysen. He named it "The Lone Gum" in a pastel he produced in 1912, shortly after purchasing the property.
