Statement of Significance
The tree is an outstanding example of the species and is notable for its extensive canopy and very large trunk circumference . It clearly contributes to the landscape and appears as a landmark when approaching from the west . It is a great looking tree in good condition and far exceeds the average specimen of the species . The tree is particularly notable because of being in a near coastal situation
History
Harold Laffer who planted the tree in 1948 in the front garden of his home at 28 King Street Brighton was a well vigneron who managed the historic Laffer family property Fairford at Sturt
