The trees make a significant contribution to landscape of the historic coastal settlement of Coolangatta as they form a lineal arrangement along the median strip and are a highly visible and symbolic landmark along Garrick Street.
The trees are associated with the Powell brothers, for whom they were planted in commemoration, and with World War Two and the sacrifices made by community members.
The trees have contemporary association with the community as they contribute to the landscape of the historic coastal town.
They are good examples on their species which thrive in the coastal environment.
