Statement of Significance
The trees make a significant contribution to landscape of the historic coastal settlement of Coolangatta as they form a lineal arrangement along the median strip and are a highly visible and symbolic landmark along Garrick Street.
The trees are associated with the Powell brothers, for whom they were planted in commemoration, and with World War Two and the sacrifices made by community members.
